Statement of Solidarity

with Our Jewish Neighbors

Highland Park Presbyterian Church believes that every person bears the image of God and is worthy of dignity, safety, and love.

Recent rises in antisemitic threats and violence grieve us deeply. We stand with our Jewish brothers, sisters, and neighbors, and we condemn antisemitism in all its forms—spoken, written, or enacted. Hatred toward the Jewish community is an affront to God’s vision of shalom and to the Gospel call to “love your neighbor as yourself.”

Therefore, we commit to:

  1. Speak Up: Naming antisemitism wherever we encounter it—online, in conversation, and in public life.

  2. Show Up: Building relationships with local synagogues and Jewish organizations, attending community events, and offering practical support when asked.

  3. Pray & Learn: Holding our Jewish neighbors in prayer and educating ourselves about antisemitism so that our solidarity is informed and enduring.

We invite all people of goodwill to join us in rejecting hate and fostering a community where every faith tradition can flourish in peace.

“Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good.” —Romans 12:9

Kick-Off Sunday

September 14th!

Mark your calendars and join us for a joyful start to the new program year!

During worship, we’ll celebrate our Blessing of the Backpacks—kids, youth, and adults are encouraged to bring backpacks, briefcases, or bags to receive a prayer for the year ahead.

After worship, stick around for a potluck lunch, fun, and games for all ages! It’s a great chance to reconnect, meet new faces, and enjoy time together as a church family.

We’ll also be relaunching our Christian Education program for the fall—more details coming soon.

Come ready to worship, celebrate, and kick off the season together!

Introducing:

Faith Matters

For years, our Sunday morning adult education program has been known as “Adult Forum.” While meaningful in its intent, the name hasn’t always reflected the heart of what we’re doing together. Beginning this fall, we’re reintroducing the program with a new name: Faith Matters.

The name carries a double meaning: we gather to talk about the matters of faith — scripture, theology, contemporary issues, and how our beliefs shape daily life. And it’s also a reminder that faith matters — it is vital, relevant, and worth engaging deeply.

Faith Matters will begin Sunday, September 21st at 11:30 a.m. in the Parlor, following fellowship. It’s a time for conversation, learning, and connection as we explore how our faith speaks into the world around us. Everyone is welcome to pull up a chair, bring your questions, and join the dialogue.

Suffering and Grace:

A video reflection by Pastor Quincy

People tell us all the time that God will never give us more than we can handle. Is that true? Is that really the story of the Bible? What do we do when life or events seem like more than we can handle and where do we find God in those moments?

Highland Park Presbyterian Church is more than a congregation—we’re a community! No matter your age or background, we invite you and your family to come as you are and explore your faith with us
