Annual 3 Church Rummage Sale

Three Highland Park Churches — Immaculate Conception, Trinity Episcopal and Highland Park Presbyterian — will be having a 3-Church Rummage Sale on Friday, September 7 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday, September 8 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

After more than 50 years of Rummage Sales, the churches are still taking in merchandise, setting up rooms in their respective churches, setting up shelving, clothing racks, tables, and most any flat surface they can find to show their merchandise. There will be baby’s, children’s, and adult clothing, shoes, jewelry, toys, sports equipment, baby equipment, small appliances, tools, housewares, holiday décor, books, CDs, and furniture, and more.

Church member volunteers work tirelessly most of the year preparing for this sale unpacking, sorting, moving, stocking shelves, pricing and selling. One church even has a “bag brigade night” moving boxes and clothing from the basement up two flights of stairs.

Each church has their own method of disbursing their monies. One gives 10% of the proceeds to local charities, unsold coats and winter clothing are donated to certain special needs local charities with remaining monies being used for non-budgeted church projects. Another gives most of the proceeds to community outreach programs, other local agencies, and the remainder goes into a capital fund. And the other gives to various parish ministries.

If you are looking for games for your kids, a winter coat, a pair of slacks to match that blouse you have hanging in your closet, a set of dishes for your college freshman, or maybe something you didn’t know you needed (for a bargain), the 3-Church Rummage Sale is the place to go.

If you have questions about the sale, you may call or go online.
